Relevance of the cast metallic posts in a PPR based tooth


Summary

There are over 100 years, the use cast metallic posts for restoration of endodontically treated teeth large losses of coronary structure was the most indicated method. However, the advent of prefabricated posts brought doubts about which system to use and when to choose each one of them. Faced with these questions, the purpose of this report was to exemplify to the professional how to make the choice of the most appropriate material according to the procedure to be performed based on scientific evidence. Thus, the discussion involves the determination of the most suitable material for direct abutment teeth of removable partial dentures. It can be concluded that, however, there is not yet a pre-fabricated posts that is suitable for all cases and definitely replace the cast metallic posts.
